I’m planning to use turbo tax for the first time (previously used a CPA). I need the Premier version because I own a small business. I need advice on which version to buy: software (cd), online or download. Download is the the cheapest, but I want to get the right one in terms of ease of use and accuracy. Which version of Turbo Tax should I buy? I plan on purchasing Quickbooks for my accounting purposes, since i’ve learned that this is the #1 accounting software for small businesses in the USA. But what other software would you recommend? I see a number of businesses use Quicken, but is it necessary? Does it help with organizing finances? If I had Quickbooks, would Quicken just be an added benefit? I’m a sole-proprietor and a massage therapist, so I would be classified as a small service business. I don’t have any inventory I’m selling or anything other than my services as a therapist. And when it comes to taxes, I usually rely on H&R Block, but is Turbotax any good in comparison? Thank you! What software should I get for my small business? I’m in high school right now and I’m located in a country(was U. S.A, right now in continent of asia) which I suppose has a very bright future, since I was a kid, It was my dream to always end up in a high flying blue collar job somewhere up in Wall Street and slowly become a partner of big firms, but I have so many ambitions, but my wall street dreams deviated once I moved to the land of the software people, I have so much on my mind, I’m currently taking the Business and Commerce stream in my high school and most of my classes are cakewalks for me, I used to flunk half the time in tenth with science and math, I still have math but I mean the Business Studies textbook and Economics textbooks come to me naturally, I dont even have to study for tests and I can ace them, I savour every bit of these books I’m not an einstein at math so acing the SAT test and landing in some Ivy league is not my priority, it is to me, still a dream. But one great thing I got going for myself right now, sorry if I sound like an oppertunist(hey, told ya I wanted to be a hustler), but right now, I go to one of the most prestigious schools in my city and I have politician’s sons as my friends, and construction baron descendants sitting behind my chair, I mean, I know people to can make things happen with a clap. When I get back to the states, I plan to go to a decent B-School and bachelor in accounting, as that is the blood of all forms of business and it would help me become business literate, and then I plan to major in Finance.after that, I plan to become an ERP consultant in case any of my plans dont work as I obviously need a back-up strategy, I will later use the initial salary earned for my ambitions should anything go haywire.. but if the wind is right, I plan to use some of my “connections”(trust me, not petty people, close people too) as my venture capitalists, to start my own soft-drink company, and after a few years, I plan start a construction/real estate company (like TRUMP)and take both of my companies public, eventually I also would like to fullfill my dreams of starting an electric automobile company along with a Insurance company.
My dad(who was a small time restuarant owner), has a little idea about my plans, as I told him, but I didn’t exactly give him the blueprint I gave you guys even though I think he has an Idea. All I want to know is am I being too overconfident or am I correct about my timing? I consider my self very fortunate to have the right things happen to me so far, its like everything is lined up for me, all I got to do is shoot. I know exactly how hard it is to fulfill dreams, everybody has dreams, only some fulfill it. My mom say isn’t exactly pessimistic but she knows me and my network, and I dont think the chances I have aren’t something I’m overmining, am I? Let’s think about it, sons of politicians, sons of barons as my friends, potential backers, dreams of minethey can pay for. See, I dont want to act overconfidant and start crying if any of these visions actually get nowhere, but I’m a person who believes in vision, and I wouldn’t even rely on just my contacts to get me anywhere, but I can trick a person into buying their own shoes..Plus I have great managerial skills. So I’m being optimistic. Is everything in my favour? Do I have a chance at becoming a hustler? There is a woman at work whose behavior is driving me nuts. The place I work for is a small business (less than 2 dozen employees). I’ve worked there for about two years now, and she’s worked there for about 3 years. Technically, her title is the same as mine, but she behaves and is often treated like a member of management. That’s all fine and good, but this woman goes out of her way to step on other people to make herself and her ideas dominate the entire office environment. I can’t do my work without her stopping to tell me what I should do differently. She will literally stand over my shoulder and ask me “so.. how’s it going? ” That sentence right there makes me cringe. No matter what I say or what I show her i’m doomed. I have tried ignoring her and telling her it’s not a big deal, but it’s a small office, and everybody knows everybody else’s business. She always insists on putting her two cents in, and she acts like she’s doing the world a favor. The trouble is, her criticism is always negative and she never offers any useful suggestions. Her favorite thing to suggest is that you put your project on hold until she figures out what she wants to do with it. Yeah, right. Most people would probably blow her off. Hard to do with her. She tends to throw a big fit and finds plently of other ways to make your work day intolerable if you don’t show her everything you’re doing. I’ve been noticing a pattern lately. I’ll be working on something, the manager will come by and give me some suggestions, a few words of encouragement, and the go ahead to proceed. Then after a few days, this co-worker will appear (after she knows I’ve been working on this project for a little while) and she’ll get all huffy and tell me i’m doing it all wrong. She’ll pick it apart in the cruelest possible way until all the things I felt good about in the project are gone. Where was she two days ago, when I first started? Why didn’t she give me a game plan then? I don’t understand her logic. She’ll rip everything apart, and tell me all the things I did wrong, yet, she never gives me any suggestions on what I should do to make it right. It’s almost like she enjoys making other people feel two inches tall. She has this look that she gives people that makes my skin crawl. As if to say, “you better do as I say or i’ll rip out your eyeballs and eat them for lunch” She also has this habit of going to the manager and convincing her that what i’m doing is all wrong. The next thing I know i’m being told by my manager (the same person who just gave me the thumbs up to proceed) that I need to scrap everything and put the entire project on hold until my co-worker and management figure out what they want to do. It’s confusing and unproductive to have a manager give you the go ahead and then make you scrap your work based on another employee’s opinions. It’s insulting. I don’t appreciate someone posing as a manager ripping my stuff apart and acting like what i’ve done is child’s play. I’m the only one there that even has a clue how to use the software needed to complete the project. And the other day my co-worker asked that I explain how the software works. First of all, it took me years to acquire what I know about the ins and outs of this software. It isn’t something you learn overnight. And secondly what? Is she serious?? Is she trying to push me off the ledge here? She’s nuts, I tell you. And as good as she is at criticizing other people’s ideas, she has very few solid ideas herself. She’s also unorganized, and myself and my other co-workers have noticed that it takes forever just to get projects off the ground when she’s at the wheel. I just don’t understand why management keep going along with whatever my co-worker wants. It’s bad for morale and productivity. Maybe they don’t realize what’s really going on? Or maybe they are trying to avoid conflict? I don’t know. I need help though. I don’t know how to deal with this person. Any suggestions for what I could say to her? Should I approach my manager about my co-workers behavior? If so, What should I say? Any thoughts or similar experiences would be appreciated. Thanks! Help! Female co-worker is driving me crazy!!? “While reports vary, as many as 40 percent of small businesses do not reopen after a major disaster like a flood, tornado or earthquake. These shuttered businesses were unprepared for a disaster; they had no plan or backup systems. When you start to develop your disaster plan, consider three subjects: human resources, physical resources and business continuity. Think about how a disaster could affect your employees, customers and workplace. Think about how you could continue doing business if the area around your facility is closed or streets are impassable. Think about what you would need to serve your customers even if your facility is closed.” (Red Cross document – Preparing Your Business For The Unthinkable)To Bill, Collins project Did Collins software run into an intractable problem? Let’s say I’m starting a small air charter business. My largest depreciable assets are of course the aircraft, worth 1.5 million. We will be financing the aircraft over 20 years, not buying them outright. So I have my typical office, insurance, and other start-up expenses, then I have some short term assets like tables, signage, office equipment, etc. Where do I justify the aircraft? My business plan software wants to put the aircraft down payments as part of the start up EXPENSES. It wants to put the ENTIRE VALUE of the aircraft under start-up ASSETS. Is this right? Why do I need the entire value of the aircraft as a start-up cost? We are financing them, making down payments and monthly payments, not buying them outright. If I list the aircraft as a start up asset cost, my total start-up funding will show close to 2 million required, with 75% of that being the value of the aircraft. I don’t need close to that to open my busines doors. I need maybe 25%. Would long-term assets be included in a new company’s start-up plan? Also, “Start, Run & Grow your Business”, a program I discovered on Amazon. com is strangely missing from paloalto. com. Does anyone happen to know why it’s missing from their website? Was it too similar to their Business Plan Pro software? Or was it considered to be an inferior product? Just curious. Where can I find small business software that rivals that offered by Palo Alto? I plan to open the small business online and I wonder how can I charge buyers’ credit cards. I heard about PC charge software but the descriptions say that I need to pay some extra money or something. Please help me, thanks.
