Okay so I've been e-mailing the technical support for few weeks now trying to solve the graphics cards problem, and we came up with the solution for me to send the RMA in the PNY's website. I went to their site, opened up the RMA request page to fill in the information, but couldn't fill in the "UPC code" since my graphics cards box didn't have one, so I sent the technical support " I tried to send a RMA but when the RMA asked for UPC code I did not know where to find the code. is that the "Val #" on the receipt or the graphics cards product number that is on the graphics card itself. there is no UPC code on the box of the graphics card.

" Then a few days later this is what the technical support wrote "Don’t worry about the UPC code. if you provide me with the follow information I can create the RMA for you." and I thought, wait instead of telling me how to get the UPC code you want me to just e-mail you about the information and it's going to work? Well, here is the information that the technical support requested to me in order to do the RMA: 1.) VCG# off the sticker on the card 2.) Shipping Address that UPS can deliver 3.) Date Purchased 4.) Location Purchased The only reason I'm all like "should I be giving off this information through e-mail!?" is because I always hear stuff like "staff will never ask you for personal information". so… is this something I should be trusting? or should I just ask for how to fill in the UPC code.

Is this really personal information? Yes, the 'shipping address' could be your personal address but it doesn't have to be. And if the information is available in the phone book, its not really very protected information anyway. I don't really see anything here that would result in identity theft. if you don't want the tech to know where you live (or someone who manages to intercept your email), then have the delivery go to your work address. The UPC (United Parcel Code) is the numbers located below the little sticker with a bunch of black lines and bars on it…… Like the others have said, your shipping address isn't exactly a secret. anyone who knows your full name could look it up. Personal Information usually means such things are your Social Security number, bank account number, full credit/debit card number (most legitimate requests will only ask for the last 4 digits), and date of birth. all of those are very useful for identity thieves. Your address on the other hand, isn't. Go ahead and email PNY back with the info they requested and get your RMA sorted out. I realize that we're becoming a paranoid society, but he's not exactly asking for the PIN to your online pension account. I don't see anything there that could be used to scam you out of anything. Go for it. Should I be giving off the information?
