you know, you call up technical support and your like... "Hey... this is Keanu Reeves... yeah, you'd think i'd be able to hook up my wireless network, but well, between turning down all the scripts i get and going to all those posh celebrity events i don't ever have the time to read the manual... Modem?!. what the heck does that mean?.."

Keanu Reeves? Is he related to Christopher Reeves? Wait, huh? What are you thinking of? Keanu? I think you mean the King. That is Elvis and nobody messes with Elvis and gets away with it. That is what you meant tho? Right? I think I forget what I was going to think about right there. Never mind.

I just started working for a very well known computer company and I am having trouble explaining computer components to people that don't know anything about computers. How would you guys explain memory to people? Computer Processors to people? Hard-drive to people even after you tell them it's where you store everything on your computer? And anything else that you can think of to add to this list I would appreciate it. I have done my scripts on every technical support call I receive and I have trouble breaking down computer components to people when they ask questions and want to know what everything on the computer does and I have trouble explaining it in non nerd terms. Thanks in advance 10 points to best answer

You might want to think up some analogy Like the CPU or Processor is the "brain" of your computer and its GHz rating is the IQ..the higher the IQ the better/faster the brain. The hard drive is a big storage bin that holds everything you save. The Ram...is the quick recall memory..the faster it is, the more likely you will win at "jeopardy"! You have to brake it down to simple terms that the audience, at that time, can understand. If you were talking to a bunch of farmers you would have to make an analogy a farmer could understand. Like, your hard drive is your "barn" the bigger it is the more cows you can keep in it! Your processor is your tractor..it does the work around the farm...Your RAM is like your wife...she remembers everything...and is quick to let you know it! (a little levity helps too!) you have to be dynamic in your presentation but down to earth too! It ain't easy! I do seminars on computers and had to taylor my courses to fit the group i'm speaking to at the time!

I've learned that in a job hunt game, you would want to be mysterious in an intriguing way. Hiring managers commonly have so many resumes piling up for whatever openings that they likely won't have enough patience or willingness to thoroughly read through every single one. The types that does stand out or catch their eyes enough to even consider interviewing you are the ones that are short and sweet and not too specific or detailed. Your best bet would be to list accomplishments/responsibilities that you consider most significant/important and/or make it general. You can always elaborate or get more specific with the rest in the interview about your day-to-day duties. Probably for example with those points, I'd list them like this if I were you: • Performed customer service and technical support • Trained/supervised new hires I think they may look a little too vague to catch an eye, but I hope this gives you some idea. Also, don't exaggerate too far from what you actually do/accomplish. My mentor from my last internship mentioned the worst interview she ever done was with a candidate who mentioned in his resume that he started and ran a business on his own during college but studdered in the interview and admitted he actually managed instead at his family business. Hope this helps. Good luck!
