I am so overwhelmed with school work. I take 3 honors classes. But some of my teachers seem to enjoy giving us work on top of work, on top of more work. In biology I had a big project assessment and my teacher insisted on moving on in the book and doing more stuff while we were doing the project. I have a saint project in religion class and we only had about 1.5 weeks to put together a paper and a powerpoint and a timeline of our saint, while still learning in out textbook. my English teacher is the master of piling on work. First of all we have a huge research paper due December 12, our biggest project of the year. What does he do instead of giving us class time to work on it at least like maybe once or twice? He has us read "Of Mice and Men" while we're supposed to read a full biography book about our research person, make mandatory notecards on our sources, have a mini project for the novel, and on top of that we read the short story "Mr. Preble Gets Rid of His Wife" and we have to write and present an ending to the story, since it really has no good ending. It's really annoying me because I'm up so late at night trying to do all this stuff. I didn't know the notecards were mandatory until like just last week and I had been putting them off because I had other priority homework. Now they're due tomorrow and I'm not going to get them done because it's too late for me to do notecards on four print sources and two web sources with mla citations. Don't get me wrong, freshman year (9th grade) in high school is really fun, but all the work piled up lately is really starting to piss me off. I'm starting to regret taking so many honors classes, but the thing is I had the grades to qualify for them so I took them for that reason and also because I've heard there are more people goofing off and distracting in regular classes at my school. But now they seem too overwhelming and it's way past the deadline to change classes. Why do teachers act like we have nothing else to do besides school work? And what would you do in this situation? I like all of my teachers as people but when it comes to school work many of them go a little, if not way overboard. I like all of my teachers as people but when it comes to school work many of them go a little, if not way overboard. I'm not going to a top college. I know that for a fact. I'm going to Creighton University at least for undergrad school because I get free college there because my dad is a professor. I WILL NOT get a tutor. My parents pay enough for me to attend private school while balancing the costs of everyday life, too. The only reason I go to Catholic school is because the Omaha public education system is highly flawed. Plus my "home school" is Omaha northwest,a very underachieving school in a bad area and majority of the students are black or hispanic. I would not fit in very well. If I wanted to go to another school I wouldn't get bus service.

Honors classes are expected to include a lot of work outside of the class. They expect you to use your time wisely, doing the assignments without wasting a lot of time. And they are attempting to prepare you to succeed in a top college--where the workload will be much heavier. There are fewer discipline problems in honors classes because students are too busy to goof off (and don't want the bad grades). If you are having trouble keeping up, you might want to consider some tutoring to increase your reading speed and study skills. Or drop back down to regular classes if you don't have high goals for yourself, don't have ambition to work hard to get into a top college and such. Or drop one or two and have a mixed load of classes until you get the hang of advanced classes. Good luck.

In a Powerpoint presentation, I have to include a ‘fun game’ based on the popular game ‘Play Your Cards Right.’ How can I put in a slide in the presentation, just the number ‘0’ and then using either the mouse or with the ‘up’ and ‘down’ keys, change the number quickly as the audience shouts out ‘higher’ or ‘lower.’ Is that even possible? I’m open to other ideas as well, like a timeline with an arrow that moves perhaps. Are these ideas even possible on Powerpoint? If not, are they possible on other Microsoft applications, like Excel? Thank you in advance, for ANY help!

I'm thinking you can accomplish what you want by hyperlinking "higher" and "lower" to other slides - have 1 hyperlink to another slide in your batch for the "higher" category, and one for the "lower" - with a ton of high-lows to go through be careful you don't get confused about which slides link to where, but this would be the easiest way to accomplish what you're going for.
