Read more… NFL Hall-of-Famer Emmitt Smith Commits to Las Vegas PGA Tour Event Pro-Am Las Vegas, Nevada (August 12, 2011)–The tournament management of the PGA Tour’s Justin Timberlake Shrines Hospitals for Children Open has announced that football great Emmitt Smith, who was enshrined into the Hall of Fame last week, is scheduled to play in the official MGM Resorts International Championship Pro-Am at the JT Shriners Open on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at Las Vegas golf course TPC Summerlin. Smith, who works with his wife on their own foundation, said in a statement he is happy to play and continue the efforts of Timberlake and the Shriners. “I’m thrilled to be a part of the Pro-Am to support the Shriners Hospitals for Children,” said Smith. “Pat and I are driven to help children through our organization and it’s an honor to be involved with such a prestigious event in Las Vegas. An assistant pro at the Las Vegas golf course since it opened in 2003, Helseth won the recent PGA Southwest Section’s Southern Nevada Chapter Championship by three strokes.
It was the third time Helseth won the crown, adding to his 2005 and 2009 titles. Read more… PGA Championship Leader Nick Watney Calls Las Vegas’ Butch Harmon Best Golf Instructor in World Las Vegas, Nevada (August 15, 2010 UPDATED 8/15 6:17 PM)–At times during this PGA Championship, it seems like Las Vegas resident Butch Harmon has been the star of the show just for having a casual conversation with fellow golf instructor Sean Foley. Foley appears to now be the heir apparent to monitoring/fixing the swing of Tiger Woods. But the real stars are the guys on the course, and a few of them near the leader board just happen to work with Harmon, who operates the Butch Harmon School of Golf at Las Vegas resort golf course Rio Secco Golf Club. One of those is Las Vegas resident Nick Watney, who had a 3-shot lead entering the final round. LIVE SCORING. Read more… Investigation Findings Could Be Released soon in Death of Las Vegas LPGA Tour Golfer Erica Blasberg Las Vegas, Nevada (August 18, 2010)–The father of Erica Blasberg says the investigation into the tragic death of his daughter who was a Las Vegas resident and LPGA Tour golfer, could come to a close very soon, possibly this week. Keith Paul, Henderson Police spokesperson, says he can’t comment on any timetable, and the Clark Country Coroner’s office hasn’t released any autopsy results stemming from the incident on may 9. since early on, Paul has characterized the situation as a “Death investigation”. Blasberg was found dead in her home, and much speculation has ensued ever since with no substantial conclusions coming in the months following the tragedy.–By Brian Hurlburt.
