Font Size: TOPEKA, Kan. (AP/WIBW) _ It should again be easier for parents to get their children’s back-to-school shot, and women getting food assistance for their families should once again be able to get their checks. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said Monday that computer problems dating back to Aug. 5 are on their road to recovery. The problem cut off access to numerous Kansas health and environment records. KDHE Secretary Rod Bremby said Monday that server problems wereto blame. he said access has been restored to systems handlingstate vital statistics, immunizations and child care licensing, among others. The outage came at a critical time when Kansans are accessing birth certificates and immunization records as children return to school.

KDHE and state education officials have notified school districts to allow for delays in verifying information. “As a parent, I understand the need for documents to enroll your child in school and the frustration with not being able to attain them,” said Secretary Bremby. “This has been hard for everyone and we appreciate your patience.” Bremby said more systems are coming online daily, and that no data have been lost.
