How can i protect my life savings agains…

I have a small amount of savings (less than 50K) in a US-based Internet bank. currently my company is being sued for a large amount of money. though (for many reasons) I doubt they'll get to my personal accounts I'd really like to not take a chance and somehow protect it.

Offshore seems to risky and costly for this small amount of money. Any other ideas?

How can I protect my life savings against judgement (judgement proof)?

I've just started a small online store selling a book I've self-published. I started out keeping track of sales in a spiral notebook, then graduated to an excel spreadsheet. But as sales keep coming in, it's starting to get more complicated. I need to distinguish books sold, from books placed in stores but not sold, from books given away as gifts, from books still in my inventory. And all the payment methods (in person, via a retailer, online... cash, check, credit card) and all the tax variables and all the various fees, shipping, etc. Ahhh, my head spins, and my excel spreadsheet grows waaay too complicated. Any suggestions? I've not much budget for anything fancy but don't want to spend hours entering in numbers either.

Hi, I've got 2 answers for you... The first is for you to have a look for AceMoneyLite - it's 100% freeware and works a treat - I use it all the time and can highly recommend it. It stores accounts in databases and, although the free version is "supposedly" limited to one account, you can rename an account and then create a new one and choose whichever database (account) you want each time you open the program. It's also pretty lightweight. Given that you're selling a book (not sure if digital or physical), you may want to have a look at the following "free to join" service to process your digital sales - the fees are incredibly low and your payments are guaranteed - links to both the accounting freeware and the payment processing webs can be found below my answer in the source box. Hope this helps

I am interested in buying a existing business and using the inventory to purchase it. I have made up a business plan and a 1 year cash flow projection sheet. I have researched my competitors and have listed in my business plan the ideas of which i would put into use when i get the business to attract more customers and keep them comming. I have researched the advertising aspect as well from the local newspaper to the online chamber of commerance and flyers. I have also ask a couple of my family members if they wouldn't mind co signing and a couple of them said yes. The only problem I am having is that I need to be able to print my business plan out correctly. I need a program that is for business plans solely cause mircosoft word is not cutting it. So if you have a freeware business plan software suggestion that I can download to do this let me know. Thanks!!!

I would strongly recommend that you talk to a business counselor before you do anything especially spend money. I'd call the local office of SCORE (go to http://www.score.org and input your zip code to find the chapter nearest you), the advice is FREE. You can also use their facilities and if they have a business resource center you can use their copies of business plan software at no charge if you do it there. Try this link : http://www.ychange.com/small-business-consulting-articles.html and read some of the articles especially the ones about a business plan and starting a business. Good Luck
