Coastal meets local lobster and lefse fe…

Could the unlikely pairing of lobster and lefse be the start of one of the FM area’s most anticipated festivals and give back to the community tenfold? Randy Long certainly thinks so. He has spent the past five years researching and fundraising for an event he hopes to make an annual tradition, “the Lobster and Lefse Festival.” The festival is a volunteer-run charity event, and absolutely all of the proceeds will go to FM AM Rotary club to assist the YWCA of Cass/Clay and the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center in Moorhead.

The Rape and Abuse Crisis Center is a non-profit agency whose mission is to provide crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling and education to all persons affected by sexual and domestic violence and to provide prevention programs to create a society free of personal abuse.

The YWCA provides services for women and their children who are victims of domestic violence, homelessness or poverty.

Besides shelter, services include emergency food, personal items, transportation assistance, information & referral services, and emotional support. The festival will have profound social effects. The Rotary Club estimates that around 5,000 will attend.
